We’re expanding Custom Fields to give you greater control and precision in how you structure data.
With the introduction of three new field types - Integer, Decimal, and Date - you can now capture key information in formats that match how it’s actually used.
Why this matters
Teams don’t just work with text or drop-downs. Critical information such as dates, quantities, numeric values, and financial figures is inherently numeric or date-based. Until now, these values often had to be stored as free text or through workarounds.
With these new field types, we ensure your data is:
Accurately structured
Validated at the point of entry
Ready for downstream use
This reduces errors, improves consistency across teams, and makes your data more reliable with custom fields that better reflect and align with how information is used.
The New Custom Field Types
Integer: For whole numbers only. Ideal for quantities, counts, or any field where decimals don't make sense.
Decimal: Accepts numeric values with decimal points, such as rates or financial figures.
Date: Accepts valid date values.
*Invalid entries are rejected before saving.
Available where you work
Once a Custom Field is added to an object (Project, Phase, Task, or Time Entry), it will appear in the relevant areas across the application.
- Project: under your Projects, General → Settings
- Phase: on the Scoping page in your Projects
- Task: visible in the Task Modal when creating tasks and in tasks on the scoping page of your projects
- Time Entry: in My Timesheets under Timesheets
*The screenshots use red boxes to highlight examples of the new custom fields (Date, Integer, and Decimal).

Reporting in Advanced Analytics
The new data types can be linked to Project Custom Fields and Task Custom Fields in Advanced Analytics.

How to get started
Navigate to Admin → Custom Fields.
Create a new custom field or edit an existing one.
Open the Type dropdown - Integer, Decimal, and Date will appear alongside the existing Free Text and Dropdown options.
Save your field. It will display correctly in the custom fields list and across all supported objects.
Once saved, your field is immediately available across all relevant objects and displays correctly throughout the application.
Important Note
Currently, integer and decimal fields sync to Advanced Analytics as dimensions rather than measures, which means they cannot yet be used in custom formulas. We plan to roll out support for this in a future release.
