We are excited to announce a wave of powerful upgrades coming to our Salesforce Integration.
This release introduces bidirectional data syncing for core opportunity details alongside advanced automation rules designed to bridge the gap between your sales pipeline and project delivery teams seamlessly.
Take Control with Bidirectional Syncing
Say goodbye to manual double-entry. We are rolling out bidirectional syncing for three critical opportunity fields. You can easily manage these preferences using the new Enabled Fields and Bidirectional Sync components on your Forecast integration settings page, choosing between Off, Unidirectional (Salesforce → Forecast), or Bidirectional.
Opportunity Name: Now syncs bidirectionally between Salesforce and Forecast (previously synced only unidirectionally from Salesforce → Forecast).
-
Opportunity Amount: Now supports bidirectional syncing (previously did not sync at all).
Note: If amount syncing is left enabled, Forecast will automatically begin updating amounts for linked opportunities in Salesforce (and vice versa). See T&M Baseline Aggregate below for how this calculation behaves. -
Opportunity Start & End Dates: Can now be configured as bidirectional, Salesforce → Forecast only, or turned off entirely.
Note: The legacy setup where date syncing happened unidirectionally from Forecast → Salesforce will no longer be available.
Enhanced Project Automation & Intelligence
We’ve added smarter automation rules to ensure that when a project is generated from a Salesforce opportunity, it is accurately scoped and categorized from day one:
Automatic T&M Project Creation: If an opportunity has no template attached and its opportunity amount is empty, Forecast will automatically generate it as a Time & Materials (T&M) project.
T&M Baseline Aggregate Sync: For T&M projects, your 'Total Baseline Revenue' in Forecast will strictly sync one-way (Forecast → Salesforce) to update the linked Salesforce opportunity amount field.
Syncing Accounts as Clients: If a linked Salesforce opportunity has an attached account, it will automatically be created, matched, or merged as a client record in Forecast. This client will be assigned directly to the project, overriding any default template settings if necessary.
Retainer Tracking Sync: Retainer tracking periods configured on your Retainer project templates will now automatically apply to any newly created Forecast projects spawned from linked opportunities using that template.
Streamlined Settings Management
Effortless Default Templates: You no longer need to jump between pages to set up your primary fallback template. You can now easily select or deselect your default project template via a simple option directly on the Salesforce integration settings page in Forecast.
Action Required: How to Prepare
To take advantage of these new capabilities on release day, clients will need to perform two quick administrative steps:
Install the New Package: Clients will be required to install an updated Salesforce integration package to activate these improvements.
Update Salesforce Page Layouts: To view the newly supported Start Date and End Date fields within your Salesforce dashboards, an admin must manually add them to your Salesforce opportunity page layout(s) after the new package is installed.
