Subtasks are a convenient way to organize large tasks that require multiple steps in order to be completed. With the help of subtasks users are able to break down tasks into smaller, more manageable subtasks which can then be individually assigned to team members.

Enabling subtasks
In order to be able to add subtasks to tasks, users first need to enable them in the project settings.
To enable subtasks in a project
- Click on Projects from the top bar.
- Select All Projects from the dropdown.
- Select your project.
- In the left side panel, select Settings.
- Click Tasks.
- In the Subtasks section, toggle to enable subtasks.
Displaying subtasks in tasks
Now that subtasks are enabled, they can be added to tasks in variety of different ways.
To add subtasks from the scoping page
- Click on Projects from the top bar.
- Select All Projects from the dropdown.
- Select your project.
- In the left side panel, click Scoping.
- Hover over a task until the Create a new subtask icon appears next to the task name.
- Click on the icon.
- Fill in the parameters of the new subtask in the field under the parent task.
- Click + to add.
To add subtasks from the task modal
- Click on a task to open the task modal.
- Scroll down to the Subtasks section.
- Click to expand.
- Click +New subtask.
- Fill in the parameters of the new subtask.
- Click + to add.
Managing subtasks
Once subtasks are created, users have the ability to edit, move or delete them just as they would regular tasks. Users can edit a subtasks parameters from either its task modal or from the scoping page.
To move subtasks from one task to another
- Click and drag the selected subtask.
- Drop to nest under another existing task.
To delete a subtask
- Click the three-dots menu on either the task modal for the subtask or at the end of the task bar on the scoping page.
- Select Delete.
