Creating a task
Tasks can be created in multiple ways in Forecast:
From the Scoping page
- Click on Projects from the top bar.
- Select All Projects from the dropdown.
- Select your project.
- In the left side panel, click Scoping.
- Click +New task to create a task.
With the Create button
- Click the Create button in the upper right corner.
- Select Task.
From the Task Board page
- Click on Projects from the top bar.
- Select All Projects from the dropdown.
- Select your project.
- In the left side panel, select Task Board.
- Create a task in the New task field of each workflow column.
From the Timeline
- Click on Projects from the top bar.
- Select All Projects from the dropdown.
- Select your project.
- In the left side panel, select Timeline.
- Click and drag across the timeline.
- Select task from the pop up to create a task.
Overview of the Task modal
Once a task is created, there are a number of parameters that the users are able to adjust. To access these, simply click on a task to open the task modal. The task modal can be divided into four (4) parts:
Task details and statuses (Top white bar)
Items from left to right:

- Shortcut - by clicking the arrow, users will be transported to the parent project the task is located in.
- Project it's located in.
- Phase it's located in.
- Workflow status - update the workflow status here by selecting a status from the dropdown menu.
- Three-dots menu - gives the user access to additional settings and functions related to the task modal, discusses more in detail further in the article.
Task details and statuses (Top colored bar)
Items from left to right:

- Task ID and Title.
- Assignee - select an assignee from the dropdown menu. Users have the possibility to add multiple assignees to a task.
- Role - select the role for the task from the dropdown menu. In the case of roles only one can be assigned to a task.
- Start and End Date.
- Time Estimate - displays the estimated time of completion set for the task.
- Time Registrations - a field to register time in, also displays past time registrations on the task if clicked on.
- Remaining Time - displays how much is left from the time estimate until completion.
Items associated with the task (Bottom)
Items from top to bottom:

- Task indicators
(left to right):
- High priority.
- Bug.
- Non-billable.
- Block.
- Star task.
- Description.
- Labels - helps to categorize tasks. See About labels and how they work for more information.
- Activity Log.
- Comments.
- Creator of the task and the date it was created.

Reassigning a task
Tasks can easily be reassigned in cases e.g. when a new team member is scheduled to work on a task instead of the original assignee.
To reassign a task
- Click on the task that is to be reassigned.
- Click on Assignee.
- Remove the current assignee.
- Add a new one from the dropdown menu.
Adding comments to tasks
Team members have the possibility to leave comments and tag other team members under a task for better internal communication.
Attaching files to tasks
In the description field of a task, users can also attach files. To attach files to your task:
- Click on a task to open the task modal.
- Go to the Description field.
- Click the paper clip icon to upload files.
Adding task dependencies
Dependencies can be described as the relationships between tasks that determine the order in which activities need to be carried out. To read more about setting up dependencies between tasks, take a look at Adding task dependencies.
Adding subtasks
Viewing the task activity log
The task activity log includes every update made to the task. To view the task activity log:
- Click on a task to open the task modal.
- Click on Activity Log found in the bottom right corner.
Deleting a task
Deleting a task in Forecast is an action that cannot be reversed. Once a task is deleted it's not possible to restore it.
To delete a task within the task modal
- Click on a task to open the task modal.
- Click the three-dots menu in the upper right corner.
- Select Delete.
To delete a task from Scoping/Task Board
- Go to either Scoping or Task Board.
- Check the box for the tasks to be deleted.
- Click Delete on the pop up bar at the bottom of the page.
