"Not enough Advanced Analytics seats" message, but there is one free seat left.

Question

We have 2 Designer seats in Advanced Analytics (AVA) and only 1 of these licenses is currently assigned to a team member. However, when trying to grant Designer permissions to a second user, Forecast says "Not enough Advanced Analytics seats".

Answer

This error typically occurs for one of two reasons:

1. A former user is still occupying the seat

If you previously removed a team member's AVA permissions but didn't delete their AVA user, they are still consuming the license. Once created, an Advanced Analytics user cannot be "blank"—they must hold either a Viewer or a Designer seat.

How to fix it:

• Delete the AVA user: Go to the former Designer’s Team Member profile and delete their Analytics user (see screenshot below). This fully releases the seat.

or

• Downgrade the seat: Assign a Viewer seat to the former Designer, which will free up the Designer license for your new user.

2. A custom profile is consuming the seat

You may have a custom permission profile (other than the standard Advanced Analytics Designer/Viewer profiles) that has the "Design advanced analytics dashboards" permission enabled. Any user assigned to this custom profile will consume a Designer seat.

How to fix it:

• Update the custom profile: Edit the custom profile and remove the "Design advanced analytics dashboards" permission.

• Reassign the user: Keep the custom profile as-is, but assign the affected user(s) to a different profile that doesn't include AVA Designer rights.
