Question
We have 2 Designer seats in AVA and only 1 of these licenses is currently assigned to a team member. However, when trying to grant Designer permissions to a second user, Forecast says "Not enough Advanced Analytics seats".
Answer
1.
This can occur if the second Designer seat was previously assigned to a Forecast user whose AvA permissions were removed, but their AVA user was not deleted from the team member’s profile. In such cases, the Designer seat will remain occupied and not be released.
To release the Designer seat you can either:
- Delete the Analytics user of the former AVA Designer in their Team Member profile (see screenshot below).
- Assign a Viewer seat to the former AVA Designer.
Explanation:
Once an Advanced Analytics user is created and a seat is consumed, it cannot remain “blank”—the user holds either a Viewer or a Designer seat. To fully release an AVA seat, you need to delete the Analytics user from the team member’s profile.

2.
This can occur if a custom permission profile other than Advanced Analytics Designer includes the Design advanced analytics dashboards permission.
To free up a Designer seat, you can either remove this permission from that profile or assign a different profile to the user associated with it.
