In some cases, it’s helpful to display a target value as a straight line across your chart, making it easy to see whether your bars/lines/columns meet the goal.
You can do this by adding a second value field and setting its series type to a line.
Steps:
Click + to add a field in the Values section.
Click fx to open the formula editor.
Instead of entering a formula, type the number that represents your target and click OK.
Click the three dots (⋯) next to the field, select Series Type, and choose Line.
Example:
You have a bar chart showing your projects’ profit rates, and you want to visualise a 50% target.
Add a new value field.
Enter 50 in the formula editor.
Change the series type to Line.
This will display a vertical line at 50% across your chart, allowing you to quickly compare actual performance against your target.
