Managing time is essential for accurate reporting and forecasting. In Forecast, there are various ways to register project time.

Registering Project Time in Forecast
Forecast offers a variety of ways to register time. Team members can use any of the following ways to register time on projects and tasks.

My Timesheets
Timesheets allow you to register time to all projects and tasks you are assigned to. All users have access to Timesheets. Users with permission to manage time on behalf of others can view and manage timesheets for each user in the company. If your team includes Virtual Resources, you can also log time on their behalf using Timesheets.
To register time in My Timesheets
- Click My Work in the navigation bar.
- Select My Timesheets from the dropdown.
- Select the appropriate user from the dropdown or leave as yourself.
- Click New Time Entry on the top right of the calendar.
- Complete the details of the time registration.
- Click Save.
- Alternatively, you can enter time in the cell corresponding to the project, task or internal time type in Timesheets below the calendar.
Tasks
Users can register time on tasks using the Task Modal.
To register time from Task Modal
- Identify the task you need to register time on.
- Click on the task ID or Task Name to open the task modal.
- Within the task modal, click into Time Entries.
- On New Time Entry, confirm the date for the time entry and enter the amount of time you are reporting.
- Add any Notes as needed. If your company requires notes for time entries, you must enter a Note before saving the time entry.
- Click Save.
Create
Users can register time on tasks using the global Create button.
To register time using Create
- Click Create at the top right of the navigation bar.
- Select Time Entry from the dropdown.
- Complete the form and click Save.
Global Timer
The Global Timer allows you to easily log time on tasks. Access the Global Timer from the top right of the navigation bar. If the Global Timer does not appear in the navigation bar, click your profile icon and select Show Timer.
To register time using Global Timer
- At the top right of the navigation bar, press Play to start the timer.
- Press Pause to stop the timer.
- Resume by clicking Play.
- Click the check mark and complete the Timer entry form to register the time to a task or project.
- Time remains on the global timer until it is registered or cleared by a reset.
- To reset the timer, click the x.
Task Timer
Task Timer works like Global Timer but is accessible from within a task's modal. Time registered is associated to the task where the timer was started though it is also possible to select a different task before submitting the time entry.
To register time using Task Timer
- Click on a task to open the task modal.
- If the timer is not visible, click the three dots at the top right and select Show Timer.
- Press Play to start the timer.
- To temporarily stop the timer, press Pause.
- When you are ready to register time, press Stop.
- Complete the Timer entry form and click Save.
- Use Reset Timer in Timer entry to clear the timer without logging time to the task.
Google/Outlook Calendar Events
If your profile is linked to your Google or Outlook calendar, you can register time from events appearing in your calendar.
To register time from Google/Outlook calendar events
- From My Timesheets, identify the event in your calendar.
- Click on the event to open Create time entry.
- Select the project, task or internal time type for the time entry.
- Complete the form and click Save.

Managing Time Entries
Time registrations can easily be edited or deleted in Forecast.
To edit a time entry
- Go to My Work.
- Click on My Timesheets.
- Select a day from the calendar.
- Scroll down to Timesheets to see your time registrations for that day.
- Click the notepad icon to open Update time entry.
- Adjust the time entry and click Save.
To delete a time entry
- Go to My Work.
- Click on My Timesheets.
- Select a day from the calendar.
- Scroll down to Timesheets to see your time registrations for that day.
- Click the trash can icon.
- Confirm the warning and click Delete.
- The time entry is removed from your timesheet.
Common reasons time entries are locked from editing or deletion
If a time entry is grayed out in the Timesheet, it means it can’t be edited or deleted. Hover over it to find out why.
- Time entries have been invoiced.
- Time entries are included in a locked retainer period.
- Time entries are in a locked or approved timesheet.
- Time entries exist in a project that is synced with JIRA.
