What is changing?
In short, Capacity Planning is a solution that forecasts the gap between resource supply and demand. With Capacity Planning, customers using project allocation mode can plan out potential projects and ensure they have the resources they’ll need to complete their projects on time and within budget.
You’ll also be able to see when you have too much capacity and need to reorganize your organization or workload.
What’s coming?
Today, all customers can leverage heatmaps and virtual resources to do some level of planning.
With Capacity Planning:
Pro customers using project allocation mode will be able to use soft allocations to tentatively book team members based on their skills and availability.
In addition to soft allocations, Plus customers using project allocation mode will be able to
- Use placeholders to scope out the resources you’ll need to deliver a project without committing a specific person’s time.
- See your available vs needed resources in a company-wide overview. Group by roles to see where you are under or over-booked.
- Get a more realistic estimation of your resource needs by accounting for your pipeline’s win probability.
- Control who can create placeholders and soft allocations, and who can commit team members to projects.
Why is it changing?
Anticipating resource needs for potential future projects is no small feat - and it’s important to get it right.
With Capacity Planning, you will be able to anticipate future resourcing needs, streamline your resource planning process and deliver successful projects to your customers.
What do I need to do?
Nothing right now! All customers will be notified once Capacity Planning is available in February and will be able to contact their Customer Success Consultant to try it out. Customers will also be invited to see Capacity Planning in action at the upcoming Latest & Greatest webinar.
Pro customers will automatically gain access to soft allocations. Plus will get access to all functionalities listed above.
If you’re not a customer and are currently looking for a way to streamline your projects, resources, and finances, you can request a demo to see if Forecast is the right solution for you.
