What is Capacity Planning?
Capacity Planning helps forecast the gap between supply and demand to determine if you have sufficient resources to take on or complete a project at an organizational level. You can determine demand based on a specific skill set and role using placeholders without having to assign the work to a specific team or resource. Once a project is won and demand is confirmed, Forecast helps you identify available resources and allows you to easily transfer the demand from the placeholder into a work allocation.
Capacity Planning is available for the following resource management settings:
Features include:
Placeholders
A placeholder is an expression of a high level resource demand for a role. Placeholders can represent individual team members or an entire team of resources. Once the project is won and the demand is confirmed, the placeholder is easily transferred into an allocation for a specific team member.

Demand
Demand is an overview of your placeholders across all projects. Use Demand to easily see your upcoming project demand. Placeholder allocations appear as a lightly shaded with a dotted line border. Review daily, weekly or monthly or as needed to identify key resources that may be required to staff upcoming work.
