Holidays are company-wide days off. They usually correspond to statutory/public holidays. These days will not be available for resource utilization and will appear as greyed out in People Schedule and Timesheets.
Holidays are grouped by calendar. A calendar corresponds to the public holidays for a particular country.
This article covers:
Creating a new calendar
- Go to Admin.
- Select Holidays from the dropdown.
- Click Add Another Calendar.
- Click the new line that appeared and rename your calendar.
- Click Import Public Holidays to let Forecast populate the calendar with the most common holidays.
- Or, add individual holidays by entering the name and setting the date of the holiday.
- Select the year and the country, and click Import Public Holidays.
- At this stage, you can customize the calendar by deleting or adding holidays.
Choosing a default calendar
In case team members work in different countries and you created several calendars, you can choose a default calendar.
The default calendar will be the one assigned by default to the new team members you create. You can change the calendar assigned to a team member by going to the Working hours section of their profile in Admin > Resources > People.
Best practices
A single default calendar expanded year after year is better than creating a new separate default calendar each year, as adding current year holidays to the on-going default calendar preserves historical holiday data, while creating a new calendar for the current year holidays each year does not.
It is also recommended not to delete past years holidays, as not preserving historical holidays may impact historical team availability and resourcing.
