The integration between Jira Cloud and Forecast allows for an in-depth level of project management by utilizing both platforms and ensuring optimal project progress and delivery. Before that can occur, however, the setup of the integration is required. This article provides a step-by-step guide to integrating with Jira Server.

Setting up the JIRA Server integration
Setting up the integration requires some work in both Forecast and Jira. The step-by-step guide below explains the entire process and shows where exactly you should navigate on Atlassian's site as well. Before the procedure may begin from Forecast's side it is necessary to configure some settings in Atlassian first.
Creating an application link in your JIRA profile
The application link is necessary to connect Jira Server with Forecast. To create the application link follow the steps below:
- Navigate to the Jira environment as an Admin.
- Click on Settings
- Click on Products
- Click on Application Links
- Create a new link to:https://app.forecast.it/
- Set Application Name to Forecast
- Scroll down until you come across the Application Type field.
- Choose Application Type: Generic Application.
- Click Continue and after a while, the link will be created.
- Click on the link's pencil icon and go to Incoming Authentication.
- Set Consumer Key to the key generated and shown on the Jira server integration page in Forecast.
- To view this page:
- In Forecast, click on Admin in the top bar.
- Select Integrations from the dropdown.
- Click on the Jira Server integration.
- Click Activate. The screenshot below indicates where you will land.
- Once these sidesteps are completed return to Jira and continue with step 12 of this guide.

- Set Consumer Name to Forecast
- After scrolling down a bit, set the Public Key to the unique key generated and shown on the integration page in Forecast
- Set Consumer Callback URL to: https://api.forecast.it/jira-server/oauth
- Click Save.

Authenticating JIRA Server in Forecast
It is now possible to go to the Jira Server integration page in Forecast and complete the process by linking your Jira domain.
To authenticate the JIRA server in Forecast
- Click on Admin in the top bar.
- Select Integrations from the dropdown.
- Click on the Jira Server integration.
- Click Activate.
- When the Application Link has been created in JIRA, enter the URL of the JIRA instance and click the 'Authenticate' button
Projects and cards can now be synchronized between Jira and Forecast, and newly added and/or updated data will automatically stay up-to-date.
