In Forecast, it is possible to share files to keep track of material or deliverables made for a particular project or a task. Files can be uploaded and shared both in projects and in tasks.

Users can upload several file types in both projects and tasks, such as:
- AI
- AVI
- DOC
- EPS
- GIF
- INDD
- JPG
- M4V
- MOV
- MPG
- PNG
- PPT
- PSD
- RAR
- SVG
- TXT
- XLS
- ZIP
Sharing Files in Tasks
In Forecast, users can upload files within an individual task. Once the files are uploaded they can be found just below the task description. It is possible to download the file just by clicking on it.
To upload files in tasks:
- Open the task where the file should be added.
- Within the task popup, click on the three dots icon on the top-right.
- Select the 'Attach Files from Computer' option or the 'Attach files from Google Drive' option if the Google Drive integration is implemented.
- Select the file that should be uploaded and upload it.
Sharing Files in Projects
Users can upload files directly to the Project's Files page
To share a file in a project
- Open the Project in question.
- Click on the three dots icon within the project header.
- From the dropdown, select Files.
- If the file needs to be stored in a folder either select an existing one or click Create Folder.
- Within the folder, or the main Files page, click on the Upload button on the top right.
- From the dropdown select either Choose a File or Google Drive.
- Pick the file either from the local computer or the Google Drive account that has been integrated into the Forecast account.
Organizing your files
Within the Files tab, it is possible to organize your uploads, search for them and filter them based on file type. Below a few options are outlined to best organize your shared files.
Create a folder
In the Files tab, it is possible to create folders to better organize all the files uploaded into the project.
To create a folder:
- Open the Project in question.
- Click on the three dots icon within the project header.
- From the dropdown, select Files.
- If the file needs to be stored in a folder either select an existing one or click Create Folder.
Move a file
You can move a file from an existing folder to a task, or back to the main Files page. It is also possible to move files in bulk by selecting each file and using the 'Bulk edit' button on the top of the page.
To move a file:
- Open the Project in question.
- Click on the three dots icon within the project header.
- From the dropdown, select Files.
- Locate the file within the folder.
- Click on the three-dots icon next to the file.
- Choose between one of the following options from the dropdown:
Move file to task: to move the file to a specific task within the project.
Remove from folder: to remove the task from the folder and place it on the main Files page.
Drag to a folder
Files can be moved around by dragging and dropping them into folders within the Files page.
To drag files into a folder:
- Head to the Project Files tab.
- Click and hold the file you want to move.
- Move the item over to the folder and release it.
Delete a file or folder
Files and folders can be deleted at any time. It is not possible to recover the files, once deleted.
To delete a file or a folder
- Head to the Project Files tab.
- Locate the file or the folder.
- Click on the three-dots icon next to the file or folder.
- Select Delete.
