What's changing
Clients in Forecast have historically been managed as a single flat record, with guest users used as a workaround for individual points of contact.
This update gives you a dedicated place to manage the people at a client organization, not just the organization itself, and lays the foundation for future capabilities.
Why this matters
You get a proper way to track the people you work with at a client. This means cleaner records now, and it sets up capabilities coming next, like assigning contacts to projects, filtering reports by contact, and addressing invoices directly to the right person.
Clients experience
- Clients now have their own entry in top navigation, a full list page, and a dedicated profile page.
- You can create a client from the global create button.
- When adding a client, you can include the client name, website (optional), address details (including tax code), and logo. These details are viewable on the client's profile once created.
- The client profile page is the new home for company overview info, notes, guest users, and Contacts. Clients will no longer populate in the admin panel.
- Client details also show created and modified dates.
- When editing a client, you can add a client contact. The client contact is the primary contact shown in the client's details.
- Existing list behaviors, including edit, delete, client permissions, and list/view/create, carry over to the new experience. You can also see how many projects a client is linked to.
- From a client's details, use the three-dot menu to view integration links. Clicking an integration link takes you to the client's profile.
Contacts experience
Contacts are individual people tied to a Client. They can't exist independently of one.
- Contacts can be created from top navigation, directly within a client record, or from a client's details page.
- On a client's profile, you can assign a primary contact and add details such as first name, last name, email address, job title (optional), and phone number (optional).
- You can also determine whether the contact has guest user access. If guest user access is selected, the contact will follow the permissions set on that client.
- In the contacts list view, you'll see contact name, email, phone number, position, status, and whether they're a guest user.
- Contacts are represented by a status, showing whether they're current or part of the full contact history.
Where Else Can I Interact With Contacts?
Projects: assign a primary contact to a project, visible on the project page.
Reporting: filter the Project Performance Report (PPR) by contact.
Invoicing: select a contact when creating an invoice, see contact info on invoice detail pages, and use contact as a column and filter in the invoice list and see the contact name when exporting invoices to CSV or PDF.
