The Salesforce for Forecast integration contains a variety of useful tools to help you manage your sales from Salesforce Opportunity to Forecast Project. This article presents all of the steps required to set up the Salesforce for Forecast integration and keep it updated.
This article includes:
Enabling the Salesforce integration in Forecast
Setting up this and any integration in Forecast may only be done by someone with the Admin permission level. The step-by-step guide below explains the entire process.
To set up the Salesforce integration
- Click on Admin in the top bar.
- Select Integrations from the dropdown.
- From the integrations tab find and click Salesforce.
- Click on the Install button.
- Log in to an admin account in Salesforce (on the instance where you want to install the integration).
- Select the Install for All Users option and press Install.
- Tick the Yes, grant access to these third-party websites and press Continue.
- Once the Salesforce integration page is loaded, it will immediately begin the activation process. If this flow is interrupted, you can restart it by going back to the Salesforce integration page and clicking the Activate button.
- Allow access to the requested information by following the on-screen instructions.
You will be redirected back to the Salesforce integration page one last time, and your integration should now be activated.
Package update
Some of the updates to this integration will require an update of the installed package. If the package you currently have installed is not the most recent, you will be presented with a banner at the top of the page on the Salesforce integration page. The banner will provide you with a link to the most recent package. Some of the functionality described on this page will require that you have the newest package.
Importing Clients from Salesforce
With the Salesforce for Forecast integration, it is also possible to import any client profiles you might have in Salesforce. This can be done manually before you begin bringing over Salesforce opportunities as projects in Forecast.
To manually import Salesforce clients to Forecast
- Click on Admin in the top bar.
- Select Clients from the dropdown.
- Click on Import from Salesforce
- From the pop-up that will appear select the clients that you wish to import to Forecast.
- Once selected, click on Create clients.
This will create new client profiles in Forecast and sync them with their respective profiles in Salesforce. However, Forecast will also automatically create the profile of a client belonging to an opportunity that becomes a project in Forecast if that client profile does not already exist.
