Question
As a company, we register our time entries to Tempo and they then appear in Jira. Is there a way for those time entries to appear in Forecast?
Answer
Yes, once the connection between Jira and Forecast is made, it is possible to also sync a Tempo environment to a Forecast account. This is done by producing an OAuth token. You can learn how to generate a token here.
Name | Forecast |
Redirect URIs | https://api.forecast.it/tempo/oauth |
Client type | Confidential |
Once you click Create Application, it will show Client ID and Client secret. These need to be typed into Forecast as described below.
Once the credentials are generated a Forecast Administrator can input the client ID in the appropriate field which can be found in Jira's integration menu:
Inputting the Tempo token in Forecast
- Click on the profile icon.
- Click on Admin.
- Click on the Integrations tab.
- Scroll until you find the Jira Cloud menu and click on it.
- Paste the Client ID in the field under Tempo Timesheets.
- Paste the Client secret in the field under Tempo Timesheets.
- Click Save client credentials and then click Reauthorize. This will redirect to the Tempo Oauth page.
- Click Authorize Access and then click Onwards! which will redirect you back to Forecast.
- Click Check to verify that the access has been correctly granted.
Once this is done the connection between the three platforms will be enabled and hours registered in Tempo for Jira will appear in Forecast.
