Setting up the MS Teams integration
You must have Admin access to set up this integration.
How to Set Up the Integration
Click Admin in the top navigation bar.
Select Integrations from the dropdown menu.
Scroll down to the File sharing, productivity, and content section, and click on Teams.
Enter your MS tenant/directory name and click Enable.
Use only the MS tenant name, not the tenant ID. For example, if your domain istenantexample.onmicrosoft.com, simply entertenantexample. To locate your tenant name in Entra ID, click your profile and select "Switch directory" to view your tenants and domains.Follow the on-screen prompts to authorize and activate the integration. You will be redirected back to the integration page once finished.
Configuring the MS Teams integration
Once configured, this integration improves visibility and collaboration for project teams working across different platforms. It achieves this primarily by seamlessly syncing project data between your workspace and MS Teams.
Linking a project team to an existing team in MS teams
A core feature of this integration is the ability to link a Forecast project directly to an MS Team. Doing so connects Forecast user profiles with their MS Teams profiles and automatically assigns those users to the project. Once linked, any changes—like adding or removing team members—will instantly sync between both platforms.
How to link a project:
In Forecast, click Projects in the top navigation bar.
Select All Projects from the dropdown menu.
Click on the specific project you want to link.
In the left-side panel, click Settings, then select Team.
Click the Link to MS Teams dropdown.
Select the team you want to link to the project's team.
Once complete, your team members are successfully linked to the project. This is a crucial step, as it enables the team to receive project-specific notifications directly within MS Teams.
Exporting a project team to MS Teams
The integration also allows you to export your project team into Microsoft Teams. This action ensures that all project assignees populate in your MS Team and that their profiles are properly linked across both platforms.
To export a project team to MS Teams
In Forecast, click Projects in the top navigation bar.
Select All Projects from the dropdown menu.
Click on the specific project you want to update.
In the left-side panel, click Settings, then select Team.
From the Team tab, click Export to Teams to push the assigned users into MS Teams.
This will create a new MS Team named after your Forecast project.
Configuring personal notifications
Once a user's Forecast and MS Teams profiles are linked, a Forecast Notifier bot is installed for them. This bot forwards standard in-app alerts (the notifications usually found under the bell icon in Forecast) directly into an MS Teams chat. You can easily customize which alerts the bot sends you by visiting your standard Forecast notification settings page.
To enable/edit the notification settings
Click on your profile icon in the top-right corner of the screen.
Select Profile from the dropdown menu.
Click on Notification Settings.
Scroll down to the preferences section, where you can customize which alerts you receive and your preferred delivery method (In-app, Email, or MS Teams).
Check or uncheck the options under the MS Teams column to enable or disable specific notifications sent by the Forecast bot.
Depending on the preferences you enable, the bot will deliver a combination of project-wide updates and personal alerts, such as timesheet reminders.
