Forecasts integration with Xero allows for better financial monitoring and accessibility. With the integration in place, users will be able to export invoices, import purchase orders, and more. This article provides a step-by-step guide to integrating Forecast with a Xero account.
This article includes:
- Setting up the Xero integration
- Connecting to multiple Xero instances
- Disconnecting a Xero Account from Forecast
Setting up the Xero integration
Setting up this and any integration in Forecast may only be done by someone with the Admin permission level. The user performing the setup must be an active Xero user.
To set up the Xero integration
- Click on Admin in the top bar.
- Select Integrations from the dropdown.
- From the integrations tab find and click on Xero. This will take you to Xero's menu.
- Once on the integrations menu click on Add. This will take you to the Xero login page if you do not have an instance running already.
- Enter the credentials and click Log In.
- The authorization tab will appear. Click on Allow access to proceed.
The integration is now complete and the name of the Xero account will appear in the integrations menu on Forecast.
Connecting to multiple Xero instances
It is possible to connect to more than one Xero account in one Forecast instance. To do so follow the steps from the Xero Integration Setup.
When importing data from Xero, data from all available tenants will be shown, eg. when importing customers, the presented list of customers will be drawn from all tenants. If multiple Xero accounts are linked to Forecast, the invoices exported will land on the Xero account that the client (to which the invoice is tied) resides.
Disconnecting a Xero Account from Forecast
At any point in time, administrators can remove one or multiple Xero accounts from a Forecast instance.
Warning: Disconnecting a Xero account leads to invoices, purchase orders, and client profiles to no longer being linked to that Xero account. Furthermore, reconnecting that Xero account to Forecast afterward will result in duplicate invoices (if they are again connected to Xero), and clients (if they are resynced to the Forecast account)
To remove a Xero account from a Forecast instance
- Click on Admin in the top bar.
- Select Integrations from the dropdown.
- From the integrations tab find and click on Xero. This will take you to Xero's menu.
- From the menu find the Xero account that should be removed and click on the red Remove button to the right of the account's name. This will prompt a pop-up module with a confirmation check.
- On the pop-up module click on remove to finalize the removal of the account.
This will remove an account from the Forecast instance that it was connected to.
