Understanding Labels
Labels are a powerful tool for organizing platform data. They can be assigned to projects, tasks, and people across various categories. With label filters available throughout the platform, you can easily include or exclude data. Labels work seamlessly in both Standard and Advanced Reporting and can even be converted into Skills linked to individuals. There is no limit to how many labels or categories you can create, and 'No Category' labels offer extra flexibility when filtering data.
Labels are found throughout the platform: on project pages, team member profiles, tasks, and in standard reports. Additionally, project, task, and people labels are integrated with Advanced Analytics, providing deeper insights.

Using Labels
Using Labels in Projects
Project labels help identify essential details like project type, managing team, department, or assigned client. These labels are applied directly from the General Settings page of each project. Be thoughtful about how and where you assign labels to maximize their effectiveness for your organization.
Using Labels in Tasks
Task labels allow you to categorize planned, actual, assigned, or unassigned work. Labels are assigned within the task modal, and are visible on the project’s Scoping page through the show/hide menu. For example, task labels can indicate priority, type of work or assigned team.
In addition to Scoping, task labels are visible on the Task Board and Task Breakdown pages, ensuring that you can always track key information across your projects.
Using Labels on People
People labels are applied to a resource’s profile, accessible from the Company Admin > Resources page. Team members can also add labels to their own profiles. These labels can identify team, department, or specific skill sets and proficiency levels.
Labels can be converted into Skills, allowing for bulk addition to team member profiles. Simply create and assign a label, then convert it into a skill. The label is removed, and the skill is added to each profile previously tagged. Learn how to transform labels into skills in Labels: How to create and manage.
Using Label Filtering
Label filtering helps you quickly organize and access the data you need. Save your frequently used filters for easy re-application in the future. Here's how label filtering can enhance your platform experience:
- All Projects: Use project labels to track or focus on specific projects. Create and save filters for easy future use.
- People Schedule / Heatmap: Filter by label to view heatmap utilization for specific projects, tasks, or people. Toggle "Exclude All" to remove projects with the selected label.
- Demand: Use label filters to view upcoming resource demand, focusing on specific projects or sets of projects. Labels can also filter placeholders in projects.
- Capacity Overview: Filter by project labels to view capacity for specific projects or exclude certain ones for a clearer overview.
- Standard Reporting: Apply label filters in reports like the Project Portfolio Report or Time Registration Report. Filter by Project, Task, People, or No Category labels.
-
Invoicing: Use label filters to streamline your invoicing process and help financial controllers manage invoices more efficiently.
