Labels help you categorize your projects, tasks, and people within Forecast. By actively using this functionality it is possible to filter, report, and match your resources with your projects and tasks. Consider how you want to use labels when creating them.

Creating and managing labels
Administrators can create and manage labels for the account. There is no limit in terms of how many labels you can add.
To create labels
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Labels from the dropdown.
- Click Create Label.
- In Create Label, name the label, choose the color, and select the applicable category, if desired.
- Click Create.
Alternatively, you can create directly a new label under each category by clicking on the + New Label button within the category, and following the same process.
To edit labels
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Labels from the dropdown.
- Click on the label name.
- In the pop-up, change the name, color or category.
- Click Save.
To bulk update multiple labels
- Click on the box next to the label name to select the label(s).
- At the bottom of the screen, the bulk options drawer opens.
- Select the bulk action you wish to take and finalize the action.

Creating and managing label categories
Categorizing keeps your labels organized and managed effectively. Categories also help separate specific types of labels, by project, task or people. Labels not assigned to a category appear under No Category.
To create label categories
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Labels from the dropdown.
- Click on Create Category button on the top-right of the page.
- Give your category a name and select to which of the three options this category should be restricted to, or select all:
- Projects
- Tasks
- People.
- Click on Create.
Editing label categories
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Labels from the dropdown.
- Next to the category you want to edit, click on the three-dots icon.
- Select Edit category from the dropdown.
- Within the pop-up, you can change the category name and the label restrictions.
Using labels in projects, tasks, and people
Labels can be used in projects, tasks, and people to help you efficiently categorize your work and resources. Additionally, label filters exist in multiple pages across the platform.
Adding labels to new projects

- Click on New Project within the All Projects page, and fill in the necessary details.
- Click on More settings
- From the 'Add Label' dropdown select one of the labels that are associated with Projects.

Adding labels to existing projects
- Within the project, click on Settings in the left side panel.
- Click on General.
- Remove and/or add labels from the Project Details section.
Adding labels to Tasks
- Click on a task name to open the task modal.
- Click on 'Find Label'.
- Select a label that is associated with tasks.
Adding labels to People
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Resources from the dropdown.
- On the People tab click on the name of any of your team members to open their profile.
- In their profile scroll down to the Role, labels & permissions section to locate the Labels.
- Click on the 'Select Labels' field and choose any label to associate with the user.
Converting Labels to Skills
Labels may be converted to Skills easily allowing you to bulk update team member profiles. Once a label is converted to a skill, it no longer exists as a Label. The label is removed from any previously tagged projects or tasks and appears as a Skill on the previously labeled team member profiles.
To Convert Labels to Skills
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Labels from the dropdown.
- Select the label/s you wish to convert into skills.
- Click Convert to Skills in the bottom drawer.
- Review the warning and click Convert.
- The label is removed and now appearing in the Skills section of the previously labeled team member profile.
