Labels help you categorize projects, tasks, and people within Forecast. Be strategic about how you create and apply labels to maximize their effectiveness across your projects. Check out Labels for best practices on using labels.

Labels and Label Categories
Admins create labels and label categories within the company's Labels page.
To create labels
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Labels from the dropdown.
- Click Create Label.
- Name the label, choose the color, and select the applicable category.
- Click Create.
Note: Labels not assigned to a category appear under No Category.
To create label categories
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Labels from the dropdown.
- Click Create Category at the top-right of the page.
- Name the category and select the corresponding category type, People, Projects and/or Tasks. You may select one or all category types.
- Click Create.
To edit labels
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Labels from the dropdown.
- Click on the label name.
- Change the name, color or category.
- Click Save.
To bulk update multiple labels
- Select labels by ticking the box to the left of the label name.
- Select the bulk action desired.
To edit label categories
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Labels from the dropdown.
- Next to the category you want to edit, click on the three-dots icon.
- Select Edit category.
Adding labels to projects, tasks, and people
Labels are applied to projects, tasks, and people to help you efficiently categorize your work and resources.
Adding labels to new projects
- From All Projects, click New Project.
- Click More settings.
- In Project Labels, select the applicable labels from the Add label dropdown.
Adding labels to existing projects
- Open the project.
- Click Settings in the left side panel.
- Click General.
- Add/remove labels in Project Details.
Adding labels to Tasks
- With the task modal.
- Click on 'Find Label'.
- Select the applicable label for the task.
Adding labels to People
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Resources from the dropdown.
- Open the resource's profile.
- Scroll to Role, labels & permissions.
- Click 'Select Labels' to apply labels to the user.
Converting Labels to Skills
Labels can be converted into Skills, allowing for bulk addition to team member profiles. Simply create and assign a label, then convert it into a skill. The label is removed, and the skill is added to each profile previously tagged.
To convert labels into Skills
- Click Admin in the top bar.
- Select Labels from the dropdown.
- Select the label to convert into skills.
- Click Convert to Skills.
- Review the warning; click Convert.
- The label is removed and now appears in the Skills section of the previously tagged team member profile.
